June McAllister Fowler

Senior Vice President, Communications, Marketing and Public Affairs

As senior vice president of communications, marketing and public affairs, June McAllister Fowler leads internal, external and public policy communications and government and community relations efforts on behalf of BJC HealthCare, one of the largest nonprofit health care organizations in the United States and one of the largest private employers in the state of Missouri. She has responsibility for multiple areas, including media relations, executive communications, community benefit, community affairs, government and external relations, health literacy, corporate marketing, creative services, web development, media services and the award-winning employee newspaper, BJC Today.

Prior to joining BJC, Fowler was senior director of communications and community affairs for Mallinckrodt. She began her career as an urban planner with St. Louis County government, ultimately serving as director of the Department of Planning.

Fowler earned her master’s degree in urban affairs from Washington University in St. Louis. She completed her bachelor’s degree at the University of Missouri–Columbia.

Fowler has been an active volunteer throughout the region for many years. She currently serves as the board chair of Citizens for Modern Transit and is on the boards of Lambert St. Louis International Airport, The Muny, the Cortex Innovation Community and KIPP St. Louis. She also serves as a member of UMB Bank’s St. Louis Advisory Board, Washington University Public Affairs National Council and the Health Care Industry Council of the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. Fowler is a past chair of the Girl Scout Council of Greater St. Louis and the Metropolitan Association for Philanthropy. Fowler teaches Sunday school classes and directs the children’s services at her church.

Fowler has received a number of awards in recognition of her leadership and service.

She received the 1999 St. Louis Suburban Journals and KMOX Radio’s Women of Achievement Award, the 2000 Corporate Citizen Award from the St. Louis Business Journal, the 2001 Coro Community Leadership Award and the 2002 National Eagle Leadership Institute Award. In 2004, Fowler was inducted into the YWCA of Metro St. Louis Academy of Leaders, in 2005 was named one of the Most Influential Minority Business Leaders by the St. Louis Business Journal, and in 2010 was named Corporate Executive of the Year by The St. Louis American newspaper. In 2012 she received the Distinguished Arts & Sciences Alumni award from the University of Missouri–Columbia. In 2018 she received the Greater Missouri Leadership Challenge Inspirational Leader Award, was recognized by Ingram’s as one of the 50 Missourians to Know; and received the Professional and Community Achievement Award from Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association.

A native of St. Louis, Fowler and her husband live in west St. Louis City. They have three adult children.

Flint W. Fowler

Dr. Flint W. Fowler has served as President of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater St. Louis (formerly Herbert Hoover Boys & Girls Club) since 1996. He is responsible for managing the strategic planning and operation of the Club in support of its goals and mission. A native of St. Louis, Missouri, Flint has received both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Psychology from Washington University, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Education from Saint Louis University. Other professional positions include Managing Director for INROADS/St. Louis, a national not-for-profit career development organization for talented minority students; Executive Director, Operation Teamwork; Upward Bound Director and Employment Supervisor at St. Louis University; and District Executive for the Greater St. Louis Area Council, Boy Scouts of America.

As a Boys & Girls Club professional, Flint has served on several regional and national conference planning committees, the Training and Professional Development committee, as a Career Assistance Network coach, the Commission for the Second Century and the National Commission on Impact. He is a graduate of the Management Program and the Thomas Garth Executive Leadership program. In 2008 he successful completed the Advanced Leadership Program and Advancing Philanthropy Project. Flint is active with both the Missouri Alliance and the Missouri Area Council of Boys & Girls Clubs.

Dr. Fowler is a proud member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., and a graduate of Leadership St. Louis. He serves on The Backstoppers; Gateway Arch Park Foundation; Greater St. Louis Area Council, Boy Scouts of America; St. Louis Civic Pride Foundation; and the St. Louis Sports Commission Boards; the Advisory Board of the Clayton Branch of Enterprise Bank; and the Board of Deacons of Pleasant Green Missionary Baptist Church. Past activities include the Board of Commissioners, St. Louis Zoo; NCCJ-St. Louis; St. Louis Public Schools; and the Shakespeare Festival of St. Louis Boards; St. Louis Mental Health Board, and the St. Louis College of Pharmacy Board of Trustees; Community Partnership Program Advisory Board for the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra; and Trustee for New City and John Burroughs schools.

Dr. Fowler is the recipient of several awards including Distinguished Alumni, College of Arts & Sciences, Washington University; St. Louis Children’s Hospital Advocacy Award (2007); Ernest A. Calloway Jr. Distinguished Service Award (2007) presented by Saint Louis University Black Alumni Association; and the District Award of Merit, Greater St. Louis Boy Scout Council (2007). He is also a recipient of the CORO Community Service Award, and the Gerry & Bob Virgil Ethic of Service Award. He has been recognized by Boys & Girls Clubs of America (Midwest Region) with the Horizon Award and the Herman Prescott Award. In 2002, the Missouri Athletic Club presented him with the Jack Buck Award. The St Louis American Newspaper recognized Flint as its not-for-profit Executive of the Year in 2009 and in 2010 he was awarded the Heart & Soul Award by the Midwest Region of Boys & Girls Clubs of America. He is a 2012 recipient of the Diversity Leadership Award from the St. Louis Business Journal, and Lifetime Achievement Award from the St. Louis Gateway Classic Foundation. And he received the Blue Spirit Award from the Midwest Region of Boys & Girls Clubs of America in 2015.

Flint and his wife have jointly been recognized by NCCJ-St. Louis, St. Louis Healthy Families and the St. Louis chapter of the NAACP. He was recently named a finalist for United 4 Good’s Humanity Inspiration Award in the Education/Youth Development category. During its 2019 National Conference, Boys & Girls Clubs of America presented Flint with the Thomas G. Garth Character and Courage Award. It is the highest recognition that can be given to a professional in the Movement.
