History of the National Conference for Community and Justice

History

The National Conference for Community and Justice of Metropolitan St. Louis (NCCJSTL) is a human relations organization dedicated to fighting bias, bigotry, and oppression and to promoting understanding and respect among all races, religions, and cultures. Founded as the National Conference of Christians and Jews (NCCJ) in 1927, the NCCJSTL established a new 501(c)(3) to operate independent of the NCCJ in 2005. Our vision is to make our community a better place for all of us and not just some of us. In the fulfillment of our mission and vision, we conduct intense leadership training so that individuals may carry out our mission in the community. No other organizations in Missouri duplicate our services.

Our highly evaluated programs, four-time recipient of FOCUS St. Louis' What's Right with the Region award, engage youth and adults in depth-awareness processes that prepare them to create inclusive and just communities and institutions and to become advocates, allies, and agents of change in their personal and professional lives.

Building Greater Inclusion in All Institutions in the St. Louis Region

NCCJSTL promotes inclusion and religious tolerance throughout communities in Eastern Missouri and Southern Illinois. NCCJSTL's mission is to battle bias wherever it occurs and to strengthen leaders' ability to build inclusion into the key institutions of our region. NCCJSTL's work and leadership reflect the breadth and depth of its mission and the growing diversity of the country.
