This residential Institute increases participants' understanding of racism and classism as these oppressions impact on institutions, individuals and society. Participants work to improve their skills in facilitating both general and specific discussions around issues of race and class. The participants examine their attitudes and behaviors in relation to racial and class oppression. They develop a network of allies concerned with, and committed to, institutional change.

This training is an effective way to empower current leaders to work toward measurable change around inclusion in their organizations and throughout their communities. Participants receive a conceptual, theoretical, experiential, and practical foundation on classism and racism as well as some grounding in the intersection of all oppressions. They apply their knowledge, take on leadership roles, recognize and put their personal responsibility for dismantling racism/classism into action. They develop a network of allies from which mutual support and assistance can be realized.

Institute participants develop their change agent skills at the institute through experiential exercises, ally group work and constructive dialogue. The learning is focused on skills, theory, problem solving, personal responsibility, group responsibility, and their application.
