Institute Overview

The Inclusion Institute for Community Engagement is an open enrollment Institute for anyone in the community interested in learning more about one's self in the context of community as it relates to issues of inclusion, diversity, equity and advocacy.  The IICE builds trust among community members, helping them to recognize the strengths they bring to this work and allows for the sharing of strategies so that we can increase our ability to build stronger ties among all facets of our diverse communities.

The IICE includes two training components:

  • The Inclusion Institute begins with a 3-day Leadership Retreat, beginning at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, November 8 and concluding at 5 p.m. on Friday, November 10.  The curriculum for this intensive learning opportunity is based on that of our Inclusion Institute for Healthcare, tailored for the unique dynamics facing those working in in various capacities and sectors within our communities.

  • This Leadership Retreat is followed by two daylong follow-up Planning Workshops, in early 2018 focused on concrete skills and action planning to assist participants in translating what they have learned into continuous action and lasting change within their communities.  Follow-up sessions will be held on Friday, January 12th and Friday February 16th.  Both sessions will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
