Excerpts from Sr. Mary Jean's Letter Encouraging Participation in Walk As One

Allow me to share my primary reason for supporting Walk As One .. The mission of the National Conference of Community and Justice of Metropolitan St. Louis (NCCJSTL): to fight bias, bigotry and racism and to promote understanding and respect among all people. That is why I consider Walk As One in St. Louis to be one of the most worthwhile demonstrations in support of the dignity and respect that is due every person. As a health care professional, I also believe the overall well-being of an individual demands a just and understanding community in which to live.

There are a variety of programs sponsored and conducted by NCCJSTL which strive to emphasize religious tolerance and understanding on many fronts. The Walk As One is very special because it concentrates on youth programs--creating a passion for justice at an early age. Thus, each walker is asked to raise pledges for these important programs.
